"The Greatest of All"
Ai Yazawa & "NANA"
Written by Lisa Lam

On March 30th, Oricon Style announced the name of the "Greatest Mangaka," which Ai Yazawa respectively takes 1st place for! Ai Yazawa is best known for "NANA," "Paradise Kiss," and "Gokinjo Monogatari." Oricon reported that Ai Yazawa was able to fully express the feelings and emotions of the 21st Century women, which readers can clearly understand and relate to. Therefore, Ai Yazawa took 1st place as the "Greatest Mangaka" in the all-genders category. This does not leave Yazawa-san's best work to be un-rewarded. "NANA" took 1st place for the title of the "Greatest Shoujo Manga." Congratulations Ai Yazawa and "NANA!!"

Many copies of pirated, bootlegged, and dvdrips of "NANA the Movie" have made their way across the internet. However, that does NOT stop the success of "NANA!" In it's first week of sales, both the "Standard Edition" and the "Special Edition" of the DVDs made it into the TOP 5. The "Standard Edition" alone sold 54,000 copies, while the "Special Edition" DVD sold 46,000 copies. And these numbers are just first week sales!

Lastly, we finally have a release date for the "Overseas NANA" DVD!! The DVDs will be distributed to warehouses on April 13th 2006, and will release on April 14th, 2006. (Thanks for the info, Bruce!) The "Overseas NANA" DVD will have both Chinese and English subtitles, and is playable only on Region 3 DVD (which means you must have a all-region DVD player). If you don't have a all-region DVD, then I recommend you buy the VCD version. =)
