Many congrats to the movie "Death Note," which has captured the attention of fans internationally. Though many complain of Kenichi Matsuyama (TOTAL hottie) as Shin in "NANA," he has brought complete satisfactory to the fans of "Death Note" as detective L. =) May his success continue!

"Death Note" Shatters "NANA's" Hong Kong Record
August 12th 2006 - Orisun News Paper - [ Source ]

Currently one of the hottest topics in Asia, "Death Note," amazingly grossed about 2,400,000,000 yen in the Japanese Box Office (approximately $21 million dollars USD). To add to on it's already impressive accomplishments, "Death Note" went to Hong Kong and opened to 1,100,000 HK dollars (approximately $141,405 USD), easily strutting in the Top 2 (being beaten only by Pirates of the Carribean 2).

The movie "Death Note" was approximately shown in 27 theaters and already grossed 1,100,000 HKDs in the box office. With this figure, "Death Note" easily shattered any Japanese-imported movie to Hong Kong, held for the last ten years! It even beat out "NANA's" 250,000 HKD opening by 400 percent!

The sequel to "Death Note" will premiere in November. Seeing how popular the movie has become, "Death Note - The Last Name" will be shown in Hong Kong theaters in November; Which is the same month that Japan will be seeing it. Movie promoters are deciding whether or not to make the world premiere of the movie in Hong Kong as well. If the promoters decide on this, then it will bring cast members Tatsuya Fujiwara, Kenichi Matsuyama, and Erika Toda to Hong Kong to meet their fans!
